Empowering Engineering and Simulation Industry at ANSYS ASWC

Posted on June 23, 2016 3:18PM

The Automotive Simulation World Congress organized by ANSYS in Munich, Germany, was an exciting meetup for people and companies involved in the engineering and the simulation software industry. Open iT was sponsoring the event as ANSYS’s technology partner for bringing Elastic Licensing to market.

The event underlying theme was the forthcoming of Industry 4.0: the 4th industrial revolution since the beginning of the machine age. The progress made by engineering tools and simulation software is continually reshaping the entire industrial processes such as design optimization, prototyping and diagnosis, just to name a few.

New practices based on simulation tools, when compared to traditional operations, allow shorter design times and more optimized products. In return, this translates into more efficient processes. All these changes will demand a shift in the way companies are procuring and tracking the usage of their software tools.

Companies have established practices in tracking costs of traditional operations, but quite often lack the knowledge and adequate tools for achieving similar results in the forthcoming future. Open iT products are the best choice for entering the new era with the same confidence in knowing their software expenses.

For ISVs, the challenge will be to provide their tools in a more flexible way, allowing actual usage to flexibly match their customer needs. Achieving this will require more flexible licensing agreements, it will demand the creation of a mutually trusted relationships based on sharing information on usage and the adoption of consumption based billing. This is what we delivered to ANSYS in our technology partnership for providing Elastic Licensing.
