On International Women's Day, five women from Open iT Philippines spent the day at the Women Techmakers Manila event hosted by Google Developers Group Philippines — talks, panel discussions, and workshops focused on female technology leaders and where the opportunities in tech actually sit. The day was less about commemoration than recognition that the industry's diversity work happens through events like these, person by person and conversation by conversation. Open iT's stated belief in developing diversity and providing better opportunities for women and disadvantaged groups gets specific in moments like this one.
Para celebrar o Dia Internacional da Mulher, cinco funcionárias da Open iT Filipinas foram escolhidas para participar num evento chamado "Women Techmakers Manila": Engineering the Future" organizado por Google Developers Group (GDG) Filipinas, 8 de Março. O evento teve lugar no Globe Corporate Showroom e contou com palestras inspiradoras sobre líderes tecnológicas femininas bem sucedidas, painéis de discussão e workshops práticos.
A discussão contou com líderes tecnológicas femininas, tais como Christine Songco-Lau, gestora do programa Open Source e Social Impact no Google, que discutiu a crença do Google na diversidade; Ivy Ong, líder de divulgação da Open Data Philippines; Reinabelle Reyes, cientista investigadora do Observatório de Manila, que discutiu os elementos para o desenvolvimento de uma mulher fabricante de tecnologia; Gail Tan, chefe de comunicações do Google Philippines, que discutiu as oportunidades na indústria tecnológica de licenciados não técnicos; e muitos mais.
