Analyzer for Ansys® Software Delivers Uninterrupted Optimization Post Synopsys Merger

Despite the scale of the transition, Open iT has emphasized that existing Analyzer for Ansys® Software users will experience no disruption in functionality or support.

Amid potential changes to licensing structures and product integration strategies brought by Synopsys’ recent acquisition of Ansys, Open iT has confirmed that its  Analyzer for Ansys® Software solution remains fully operational and continues to support customers without interruption.

The merger, one of the largest in the history of the engineering software sector, enjoins Synopsys’ advanced electronic design automation (EDA) solutions with Ansys’ widely used simulation and analysis tools.

The combined portfolio is aimed at addressing increasing demand for integrated, chip-to-system design workflows, particularly in sectors such as automotive, aerospace, and industrial manufacturing.

Despite the scale of the transition, Open iT has emphasized that existing Analyzer for Ansys® Software users will experience no disruption in functionality or support.

Open iT, a global provider of engineering software usage metering and optimization tools, confirmed that Analyzer for Ansys® Software remains compatible with current Ansys license environments, including on-premise and cloud-based deployments, as well as Elastic (pay per use) and High-Performance Computing (HPC) Packs.

The platform offers comprehensive monitoring of license consumption, user activity, and application availability, including:

        • Real-time license monitoring, showing license checkouts, feature usage, and availability.

        • Historical reporting, supporting audits, trend analysis, and forecasting.

        • True Active Usage metering, distinguishing between active and idle sessions based on keyboard, mouse, and CPU activity.

        • Custom dashboards and alerts, enabling tailored views and notifications for different stakeholder needs.

By continuing to support these functions, Analyzer for Ansys® Software enables organizations to maintain full visibility into software usage and to proactively manage licensing costs and access.

While the Ansys License Manager provides foundational capabilities for managing Ansys licenses—such as monitoring current usage, managing license queues, and ensuring license availability—its scope is primarily operational and real-time.

Analyzer for Ansys® Software serves as a strategic extension to this native functionality, offering deeper insights and control through:

        • Advanced historical usage analytics, enabling long-term trend identification and capacity planning.
        • Automation of license optimization workflows, such as reclaiming idle licenses or alerting on peak demand thresholds.
        • Custom reporting and dashboarding, tailored for executives, engineering managers, procurement teams, or compliance officers.
        • Cross-environment compatibility, supporting hybrid, cloud, and on-premise license infrastructures.

Together, the Ansys License Manager and Analyzer for Ansys® Software provide a comprehensive view of license usage by focusing on:

        • Real-time operations – through Ansys License Manager
        • Strategic planning, optimization, and accountability – through Analyzer for Ansys® Software

This complementary relationship empowers organizations to extract greater value from their Ansys investments while staying agile amid licensing and organizational changes.

While Synopsys and Ansys have not yet announced specific changes to their licensing models, analysts expect the integration may eventually lead to updates in product bundling, pricing structures, or license types.

In light of these possibilities, enterprise IT and software asset management teams are prioritizing data-driven planning.

Open iT’s Analyzer for Ansys® Software is positioned to play a key role in this process by providing accurate, vendor-neutral data on how Ansys tools are being used.

This information allows customers to make informed decisions on

        • Renewal Negotiations
        • Right-sizing of license pools, and
        • Cost Optimization Strategies —regardless of how product packaging evolves under Synopsys leadership.

Open iT has also confirmed that support for Analyzer for Ansys® Software will continue as planned, with updates and enhancements aligned with customer feedback and industry developments.

The company will monitor the progress of the Synopsys–Ansys integration and adapt its solutions to maintain compatibility with any new licensing systems or infrastructure changes that may emerge.

“We are committed to supporting our customers through this transition,” the company said in a statement. “Analyzer for Ansys® Software remains fully operational, and we will continue to provide updates and guidance as the post-merger roadmap becomes clearer.”

As vendors evolve their business models, enterprises will need independent tools to ensure that their software investments align with actual usage. Open iT’s continued support for Analyzer for Ansys® Software positions it as a stable resource in an otherwise dynamic market.
