What is HQMS? #

Harrington Quality Management System (HQMS) is the primary software solution of Harrington Group International (HGI) for enterprise quality management software system, process improvement, and compliance.

Its customers include organizations involved in aerospace, government, healthcare, manufacturing, medical device, pharmaceutical, and other service industries.

It is an end-to-end solution designed to manage customers, employees, supply chain, products, and services.

HQMS offers both subscription-based and perpetual licensing, the price of which depends on the number of maximum concurrent licenses and the different modules/features required by the customer.

It supports both on-premise and cloud-hosted installations.

Primary applications include modules for audit management, training management, equipment calibration, root-cause analysis, non-conformance, preventive action, corrective action, document control, opportunity of improvement, project coordination, and risk management.

HQMS User Monitoring and Management #

HQMS includes a user management tool that allows administrators to manage the access privileges of users within the HQMS environment, as well as control the security settings and user-group placement of the users.

The tool can provide detailed information on individual users and their respective authorizations/settings.

However, HQMS does not have a specific tool to track the actual usage of the different licenses utilized by the users.

How Open iT supports HQMS #

Open iT LicenseAnalyzer periodically polls the HQMS license server for raw usage data, which are then parsed and aggregated with usage data from a variety of other sources, including OS and web browser logs, CPU, I/O, mouse and keyboard, etc.

These combined usage data would provide a more complete and accurate overview of the HQMS license usage across the enterprise.

Open iT then uses this aggregated usage data to display the real-time license usage through the Open iT License Monitor Portal. It is also used by the Core Reporter and Analysis Server to generate historical usage reports, including:

  • Total License Usage reporting
  • Host User License Usage reporting
  • User Group Level License Usage reporting
  • Max Concurrent License Usage reporting

These vital reports provide the organization the necessary visibility to effectively manage HQMS licenses and identify opportunities for cost optimization and right-sizing.

It can also help uncover and mitigate potential risks, and predict future licensing needs based on current usage trends.
