The release of the Open iT 2019 Software Suite also includes the all new Open iT® LicenseAnalyzer2019™!
LicenseAnalyzer2019 is a complete engineering software management solution that includes over 50 features and functionalities ranging from license inventory and compliance monitoring, to elapsed time metering, true active usage reporting, and automatic license harvesting. It meters software applications, regardless of licensing method, by collecting usage data from a wide variety of sources, and provides an enterprise overview of the organization’s software usage showing when and by whom these assets are being used over time, by location, business unit, or project group. It also monitors activity levels of these applications and can automatically free up licenses with inactive usage.
Utilizing advanced metering, reporting, and optimization technologies, LicenseAnalyzer2019 enables the organization to document software license compliance, align engineering software resources with business needs to reduce expenses, plan software budget more accurately, and measure and present the ROI of engineering software investments. It also aids in better negotiations with software vendors, structuring vendor software license agreements to include the feasibility of license sharing across time zones or allowing for pay-per-use agreements.
The robust reporting capabilities of LicenseAnalyzer2019 also allow for the creation of accurate internal invoices or reports, which may then be given to certain departments or cost centers in the company, thus enabling chargeback of software costs to different business units.
LicenseAnalyzer2019 introduces three (3) levels of functionality, where each level extends and builds on the functionalities of the preceding level.
Level 1 – Runtime Usage
On this level, software asset management is simplified with easy-to-use, web-based monitoring features and flexible reporting capabilities. Usage data is collected from a wide range of sources to meter the elapsed time in which the licenses are checked out or the applications are running. This includes real-time monitoring and historical reporting on a wide range of on-premise and Cloud applications, proactive alerts, and customizable dashboards. By having the capability to monitor software usage to see when and by whom licenses are used over time, by location, business unit, or project group, from a total enterprise view down to a single user, software license savings are realized as excess license purchases can be reduced. More than 30 license managers and the most expensive applications such as MATLAB, CATIA, ANSYS, ESRI and Autodesk software are supported.
Level 2 – True Active Usage
This level includes all the features and functionalities of Level 1, and it also meters the activity levels of all applications (standalone or server-based, Cloud or on-premise) to determine whether the applications are truly being actively used. It has advanced active/inactive software usage reports (independent of licensing method) are available. True Active Usage is measured by a comparison of license check-out versus the real application usage through the monitoring and reporting of application activity from CPU and elapsed time, keyboard, mouse and I/O statistics, and compares it against specific thresholds to determine if an application is active or inactive. Advanced reporting capabilities and enables tracking of software usage, independent of licensing method, allowing companies to manage even wider selections of expensive software, such as CATIA, MATLAB, Solidworks, ANSYS, MATLAB, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Autodesk, ESRI, Dassault Systems Software Suite and many others.
Level 3 – Managed Usage
This level expands the capabilities of Levels 1 and 2 by providing a powerful software license management system to efficiently control and manage license resources through the discovery and subsequent suspension or termination of applications that are not in active use, thus automatically releasing the unused licenses back to the pool for redeployment to active users. Activity levels of all installed applications are monitored, creating detailed graphical or tabular reports for software license analysis for managed control and understanding of software assets and application usage patterns.
Open iT LicenseAnalyzer2019 is a flexible, highly customizable, robust, and complete engineering software management solution. Customers may hand pick the features and functionalities of LicenseAnalyzer2019 that will best address the organization’s requirements based on specific initiatives and unique challenges.
