SAP licenses are optimized based on the actual usage performed by SAP users. Our solution matches usage criteria to the license types purchased by the customer, calculates the necessary license for each user, then consolidates the users from different systems to distinct named employees.
Furthermore, our solution also finds dormant, duplicate, and low-active user accounts in each application-level so that these accounts can be eliminated and their licenses freed. Last but not least, the solution tracks on software-engine values.
What are the license managers supported by Open iT?
There are more than 30 supported license managers.
Open iT constantly adding support for more license managers based on number of customer requests. In addition, customers may request for prioritization of support for any new license manager at an additional cost.
Can Open iT track license denials?
Yes. Furthermore, the advanced denial reporting capabilities of Open iT can normalize spurious denials and distinguish True and False Denials. For triad servers, a “true” denial occurs when a user is denied a license from every license server from which the user had tried to check out a license. On the other hand, a “false” denial occurs when a user is denied a license at the first request, but then receives a license from the second or third license server.
Can Open iT monitor license usage project-wise?
Yes. Open iT has the ability to accurately map usage to company projects using the ID Mapping feature. It works by displaying a graphical user interface (GUI) whenever the user starts an application. This feature provides the ability for the user to record a particular instance of usage of an application to a project.
Does Open iT need fixed port number/s?
There is no need to open ports in Open iT Version 9 and onwards. All network communications now use HTTP/HTTPS protocol.
The Open iT client will communicate to the Core Server using HTTP or HTTPS on default TCP port 8080 or TCP port 443, respectively, and using TCP port 8443 on Analysis Server running on IIS for reporting and web interface.
Where do you install Open iT?
The data collectors can be installed on any machine that is targeted for monitoring: servers (license servers, application servers) and workstations. For the Open iT Server, we recommend installing it on a dedicated machine.
What licensing models does Open iT support?
Open iT supports the most popular licensing models including, but not limited to, concurrent (floating) licenses, standalone licenses, named user licenses, host-locked licenses, node-locked, dongle licenses, and many more.
Can Open iT alert on license expirations?

What database does Open iT use?
Open iT Software Suite has two options for the technology platform: Professional and Enterprise.
Professional includes the Core Reporter which uses a proprietary database. Enterprise includes the Analysis Server, in addition to the Core Reporter, which uses MS SQL Server: Database Engine, Analysis Services and Reporting Services.
Enterprise is an enterprise-grade tool, aimed at high-end users and organizations with complex reporting and analytical needs.

Open iT data collectors are very small and has very minimal overhead in the customer’s environment. Data collection is designed in a way that will not interrupt busy enterprise environment. Performance on the server side for data processing and reporting varies depending on the number of license servers, applications and users monitored.

For example, your administrator may want to receive an e-mail if your licenses have reached 90% utilization. The administrator can set up an alert for 90% Max Utilization and configure it to send it to his e-mail, instead of constantly monitoring the dashboards.

Renaming of products and features is non-permanent; that is, names can be changed at any time, allowing for change in the internal naming to better track the vendor’s products as they change over time.
Open iT also includes out of the box feature rename mappings for selected applications.

Can Open iT support LDAP protocol, including Microsoft Active Directory?
Open iT provides an interface for connecting to LDAP, including Microsoft Active Directory, in order to download additional information about the users, such as Full Name, Business Unit, Location, Cost Center, etc. and integrate the information in the reporting.

Yes, a customer can choose to skip any version. Every version update has unique features added, and these features often come from customer requests. Open iT may suggest which update would be the most appropriate version in the company’s working environment, but the customer still has the complete freedom to choose whether to install a new version or not, as long as the current version is still supported.

If you support SAP licensing, is there a need for configuration/coding in SAP? What is required?
Open iT installs an agentless collector, which communicates with the SAP instances through the standard API RFC. This is external to the SAP system and does not require any special configuration or coding within SAP. Most clients regard this as a major benefit of our Optimizer for SAP® Licensing solution compared to our competitors.
