To celebrate International Women’s Day, five female employees of Open iT Philippines were chosen to participate in an event called “Women Techmakers Manila: Engineering the Future” hosted by Google Developers Group (GDG) Philippines, March 8. It was held at the Globe Corporate Showroom and featured inspirational talks on successful female technology leaders, panel discussions and hands-on workshops.
The discussion featured female technology leaders, such as Christine Songco-Lau, program manager of Open Source and Social Impact at Google who discussed about Google’s belief in diversity; Ivy Ong, outreach lead of Open Data Philippines; Reinabelle Reyes, research scientist at the Manila Observatory, who discussed the elements for developing a woman techmaker; Gail Tan, head of communications for Google Philippines, who discussed the opportunities in the tech industry of non-technical graduates; and many more.
Open iT shares the same belief in developing diversity in all fields of work. The company upholds its conviction to provide better opportunities for women and other disadvantaged groups on International Women’s Day.
